When we get older, the signs of aging become more prominent in the form of lines in the skin. The effects of age need not damage your self-esteem or make you lose confidence in your appearance. You have options for managing wrinkles and sagging skin. Some will choose plastic surgery but this isn’t the best choice for all problem areas in the face and neck.
There are non-invasive alternatives like Botox and dermal fillers, all of which can revitalize the skin without the need for cosmetic surgery. These can bring a younger appearance with long-term results.
Many of our clients have chosen Botox as a means for achieving renewed skin. This form of treatment is one of many injectables we offer to rejuvenate your appearance. Botox is a series of botulinum toxins that is injected into the skin at very small quantities. The purpose of these treatments is to temporarily weaken or paralyze the muscles or nerves in problem areas so the wrinkles and lines become less pronounced.
Some clients will need just one injection, others may need a series of them to achieve the desired effect from the treatment.
Results are typically seen almost immediately and the injections are administered in a very short period of time. You don’t need to lose any time at work or school and you can return to your normal routine as there is little to no recovery time from Botox treatments.
One of the many reasons why our clients prefer Botox over invasive cosmetic surgery is the ease with which this treatment is administered. There is no need for anesthesia and no downtime after the skin is treated. Each injection is given with a simple needle and targets specific muscles to weaken or paralyze them to reduce wrinkles and lines.
The only precautionary preparation required ahead of a Botox treatment is to avoid using aspirin, anti-inflammatories, and alcohol for about two weeks prior to your appointment. This helps to reduce bruising in the target areas where the Botox will be injected.
Most clients will see younger looking skin and a rejuvenated appearance for up to four to six months. Keep in mind that not all clients experience the same results and your particular results may vary. When the treatment wears off, you will begin to notice lines and wrinkles re-emerging in the targeted areas, so we recommend you continue receiving treatments up to three to four times a year.
In order to find out whether or not you are a candidate for Botox, a consultation will be conducted to determine if you are in good overall health and free from any neurological disease or allergies to Botox and its ingredients. Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding should not receive Botox treatments.
Not all clients will be a good candidate for Botox based on their medical history and current condition of the skin. For these individuals, there may be other treatments that are better suited for treating lines and wrinkles in the face or neck.
For some clients, dermal fillers can be an effective treatment option for restoring volume and returning a full, natural appearance to the face. Lines and wrinkles come about for many reasons, including the loss of subcutaneous fat. When this fat is lost, the facial muscles are drawn closer to the skin and this will typically create an increase in crow’s feet, smile lines, and wrinkles at various areas of the face.
Dermal fillers offer a variety of useful benefits such as restoring contour to the face, reducing lines and wrinkles, reversing the sunken appearance around the eyes, rebuilding the facial structure that has been lost, and making the lips appear more full and plump.
It is recommended that you have fillers at the first signs of aging in order to maintain a youthful appearance. The results you can expect to see with dermal fillers can vary as some clients may experience different outcomes.
Keep in mind that we offer many different types of dermal fillers to target various areas and concerns, but these are not intended to act as alternatives to various forms of invasive cosmetic surgery such as a facelift or brow lift.
Dermal fillers are a temporary treatment option that does not last for the same length of time as surgery. We stress that our clients understand the difference between a filler and surgery and make sure they know what to expect during the consultation process.
Botox and dermal fillers may be used to target the same areas in the face but they may not have the same level of efficacy over the long-term. Feel free to ask us any questions about the differences between Botox and dermal fillers when discussing the problems you wish to correct with treatment.
